Implementing Plan No. 6112/KH-DHTN dated 12/12/2023 of TNU on organizing the national conference: “Teaching and learning foreign languages in higher education: Voices of Practitioners – LEHE 2024”, on 28-29/3/2024, the School of Foreign Languages – Thai Nguyen University (SFL-TNU) is very honored to co-organize the national conference with the Academy of Journalism, Thuongmai University of Commerce and Hung Yen University of Technology and Education.

Co-organizes to present flowers at the national conference
In particular, the national conference welcomes educational institutions from the center of Hanoi capital, the northern mountainous midlands, and the Red River Delta area that have connected to form a foreign language teaching network, contributing to improving the teaching capacity of lecturers and foreign language proficiency for students to meet the increasing demand of the labor market in the context of global integration and digital transformation in higher education. The national conference continues the success of the two national conferences in 2022 and 2023. This continuity contributes to building a research “ecosystem” and an “academic community” to create high-quality human resources and meet the requirements of international integration and digital transformation in higher education in Vietnam.
Overview of the Plenary Session of the National Conference
The LEHE 2024 takes place on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Government’s issuance of the Decree on the establishment of Thai Nguyen University (04/4/1994 – 04/4/2024) and receives the First-class Labor Medal. As a training unit of TNU, the SFL has the task of training and fostering foreign language human resources, meeting the needs of the labor market, effectively serving the country’s socio-cultural and economic development strategy and international integration, especially in the northern midlands and mountainous regions of Vietnam”. The SFL has been working with Thai Nguyen University to affirm its position and prestige in the country’s higher education system.

The LEHE 2024 has received a total of 126 articles from 19 universities and academies across the country such as Hanoi University, Hanoi University of Education, Hanoi University of Procuracy, etc Dai Nam University, Viet Tri University of Industry, Hong Duc University, Hai Phong University, Academy of Policy and Development in which, English has 93 articles, Chinese: 27 articles, Korean: 02 articles, Russian: 02 articles, French: 01 article, basic science subjects: 03 articles. In addition, there are 03 workshops and 15 English poster reports; 11 Chinese posters at the national conference.

The presentations at the workshop revolve around the following topics: Foreign language teaching methods at the university level; methods and contents of teaching specialized subjects in foreign languages; designing lectures and foreign language teaching content; experiences and difficulties and challenges in the process of teaching foreign languages; foreign language output standards; The test tool assesses the teaching of foreign languages and other topics related to foreign language research and fostering.

With a variety of reporting topics, the conference is a high-quality academic forum where speakers and scientists meet and exchange, to jointly propose solutions, and advise on policies to improve foreign language teaching and learning at the university level more and more effectively.
